Homework Help resumes tomorrow at TJHS and will meet each T/TH from 3:15-5 pm. Just a reminder that if you would like to take advantage of this program a parent or guardian must be able to pick up the student by 5 pm. Last semester, Industry II students spent time in the classroom earning their OSHA 10 Hour Card in the construction field. After taking their exams, they were presented with their Certificate of Completion and their Department of Labor OSHA 10 card. Congratulations to these students!

We are excited to invite you to our Freshman Orientation, where you'll get a sneak peek into life at Taylorville High School. Join us on Thursday, February 27th at 6:00pm for an informative session where you’ll hear from THS staff about everything our school has to offer. You'll also have the opportunity to tour the building. Plus, don’t miss the Activity Fair, where you can learn about the many clubs, sports, and extracurriculars you can be a part of! We can’t wait to see you there and help you kick off this exciting next chapter in your academic journey. This is open to all current 8th grade students and parents. It's a great day to be a Tornado!

Mrs. Reindl went into Mrs. May's Housing and Home Furnishing classes and showed the students different tips with Canva that they can use when creating a mood board or floor plan with colors. Students learned how to magic grab, generate a color palette by using an image, magic media, and magic erase.
Owl Pellet Dissection
Seventh grade students dissected owl pellets and reconstructed skeletons to answer questions about an owl’s habitat .

Mystery Science - students are asked to consider which foods will provide bears the most energy (fruit, bugs, or fish).
Scholastic Bowl Christmas Party
Fourteen members of the scholastic bowl team gathered in Mrs. Wilhour’s room to celebrate the end of our first season. We played trivia games and incorporated a white elephant gift exchange along with the trivia questions. Our second season begins in January.
AI Professional Email and Template for Resume
Mrs. Reindl went into Mrs. Harker class and worked with the students on using AI to write a professional email. Then taking that email and using it but personalizing it. She also worked with them on using a Google template and creating a resume.

7th and 8th grade students that passed 20 lessons in both math and reading got to enjoy some time at the Decatur Indoor Sports Complex on Wednesday, Jan 8. Here are a few of the pics for your review. Next Wednesday, Jan 15, our 5th and 6th grade students who earned the incentive will be heading that way as well. i-Ready is our latest computer program designed to meet students at their readiness levels and increade grade level competency. Thank you to our JH Student Council for funding this Rewards Trip activity for the kids!

Our Spanish students have been showcasing their creativity and language skills with some festive projects! Check out these highlights:
🦃 Thanksgiving Worksheets: Spanish 2, 3, and 4 students completed themed worksheets before Thanksgiving, now proudly displayed in the classroom.
🎅 Christmas Poster Projects: Spanish 2 students created beautiful posters featuring holiday traditions from Argentina, Costa Rica, Panama, and Uruguay. These are currently on display in the hallway near the Spanish classroom.

TJHS students and staff are wearing red and black tomorrow to show our support for the Mt. Zion community as they stand together in hope and prayer through their recent tragedy. Rivals come together when it really matters and nothing is more precious to us than the lives of our kids and the wellness of our communities.
Balto literacy unit and movie
Our 4th grade classes recently completed a literacy unit on Balto, the heroic Siberian Husky who led a sled dog team to deliver life-saving diphtheria antitoxin to Nome, Alaska during a 1925 epidemic. The journey through a blizzard to save the children was truly inspiring! Today, we celebrated by watching the movie together and enjoying delicious popcorn from our local movie theater!
First and second graders dove into the exciting world of coding during the Hour of Code! Students explored basic programming concepts through fun, interactive activities designed to spark creativity and problem-solving skills. This hands-on experience introduced them to the fundamentals of coding while fostering a love for technology and innovation!
Kindergarten students in Mrs. Thomas and Ms. Reiser's classes had a magical time learning about reindeer through a festive literacy activity. After reading and writing about these holiday favorites, students followed step-by-step instructions to craft their own reindeer, blending creativity with important literacy skills!

After exploring themed reading and writing activities, students had the opportunity to showcase their creativity by designing their own ugly holiday sweaters specifically for their teachers.
